Bilingual/ESL Program

Belton ISD offers a Transitional Bilingual Education instructional program from pre-kindergarten to the second grade at three elementary campuses and an ESL program in grades PK-12.

In the Transitional Bilingual instructional program, students are instructed in the primary language (Spanish) and English. The transitional approach provides equal value and status in the teaching and learning process. Students identified as limited English proficient (LEP) will gradually transition from Spanish to English at the end of second grade.

In the ESL program (Pre-K - 12) instruction is adapted to meet the needs of students who are not proficient in English. Teachers use English as the medium for providing content area instruction, adapting their language to the proficiency level of the students.
