Pattern of Meals served by Belton ISD BREAKFASTPRE-K, BREAKFAST IN THE CLASSROOM, A.E.P. AND WASKOW HIGH SCHOOL“SERVE”Students are served with all items on the tray except milk. Students are allowed to make their own selection of milk, but they all must have milk on the tray.Meals planned with a variety of meat, bread, fruit and or fruit juice to meet 1/4 the RDA calories and nutrientsELEMENTARY BREAKFAST in the CAFETERIA“OFFER vs. SERVE”A full tray has three (3) items.Some items that are grouped together require the student to select both to be counted as one (Example: cereal and toast; cereal and banana.).Two items must be selected to be a meal. (Pick 1 from Group A, Pick 1 From Group B)Students must make their own selection of milk.Milk is not required to be a meal as long as two (2) other items are selected.If three items are selected one of the items must be milk. Nothing can take the place of milk: Therefore a full tray with no milk would have only two (2) items.BELTON HIGH SCHOOL and MIDDLE SCHOOL(S) BREAKFAST“OFFER vs. SERVE”A full tray has four (4) items. (Pick 1 from Group A, Pick 2 from Group B)Three items must be selected to be a meal.Students must make their own selection of milk.Milk is not required as long as three (3) things are taken.If four items are selected one of the items must be milk. Nothing can take the place of milk: Therefore a full tray with no milk would have only three (3) items.LUNCHPRE-K LUNCH“SERVE”Pre-K students are served with all items on the tray except milk. Pre-K students are allowed to make their own selection of milk, but they all must have milk on the tray. The lunch tray uses a variety of meat, meat alternative, bread, fruit and vegetable 1/3 the RDA for calories and nutrients.ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLLUNCH“OFFER VS SERVE”A full tray has 5 items. Students make all their own selections from items that are offered. (1, Entrée, +3 sides and 1 choice of milk = 5)Each tray must contain at least three (3) items.Each tray must have an entrée’. (Items combine to make an entrée must be selected as a whole.)Students must make their own selection of milk.Milk is not required as long as three (3) other items are selected.If five items are selected one of the items must be milk. Nothing can take the place of milk: Therefore a full tray with no milk would have only four (4) items.BELTON HIGH SCHOOL, WASKOW HIGH SCHOOL, and A.E.P.LUNCH“OFFER VS SERVE”A full tray has 6 items. Students make all their own selections from items that are offered. (1 Entrée, + 4 sides, +1 choice of milk, = 6 items)Each tray must contain four (4) items.Each tray must have an Entrée. (Items combine to make an entrée must be selected as a whole.)Students must make their own selection of milk.Milk is not required as long as four (4) other items are selected.If 6 items are selected, one (1) must be a choice of milk. Nothing can take the place of milk: Therefore; a full tray without milk would have only four (4) items.
