New Middle School Information

The Belton ISD bond election for a new middle school was held Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, in conjunction with the general election at regular Bell County polling places. The bond election passed by a vote of 2,357 to 1,972.

The new middle school is estimated to cost $29 million, with an estimated tax increase of 5.4 cents per $100 valuation, with no tax rate increase for senior citizens 65 years of age and older. The new middle school was identified as a high priority by the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee that met in the fall of 2008 and spring of 2009. Current middle school enrollment is 1,991, with capacity at 1,856. By 2011, enrollment is expected to be 400-500 students over capacity, and almost 900 students over capacity by 2013. The new middle school is scheduled to open in the fall of 2011.
