Employee Benefits

Belton ISD offers comprehensive employee benefits, from health insurance to a sick leave bank.

Pay Period

Direct deposit of an employee’s check is available once a month.

State Leave Days and Personal Days

In addition to the five days of state leave, BISD provides three days of local sick leave per year. Teachers also receive two personal leave days.

Sick Leave Bank

BISD has an emergency sick leave bank that most teachers choose to join. By donating some of your sick leave, you become eligible for assistance in case of catastrophic illness.

Insurance

If you choose health coverage, BISD currently pays $250.00 for medical insurance for full time monthly employees. Employees may choose from two plans from Scott & White Health Plan. Both plans also include prescription rider that allows our employees to save money on prescription drugs. An employee may also add a spouse or dependent on to their health plan at their own expense. The district also offers group rates on dental, life, cancer, and disability coverage.

Tax Sheltered Annuities

Staff members may select from an approved list of companies offering tax shelter, annuity programs, and 403B retirement plans. Employees are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities.

Teacher Retirement

Texas public school employees are covered by the state mandated teacher retirement program.

Belton Federal Credit Union

All employees of Belton ISD are eligible to join the Belton Federal Credit Union. The membership fee is $25.25. The district will pay the initial membership fee for full time monthly employees who are new to the district and have not previously had their membership fee paid by the district. New employees have thirty days from their date of employment to take advantage of this offer. The Belton Federal Credit Union offers convenient direct deposit and loans at low interest rates to our employees. If you have any questions call Diane Green at 215-2025.

Free Tuition

If an employee does not live in the district, his or her children may attend tuition free. This is done by application in the Superintendent’s office.
