Fourth Grade Teachers

Welcome to Leon Heights 4th grade!  Fourth grade teachers include Dana Jackson and Holly Mayes.  We are enthusiastic about teaching and passionate about the success of our students.

Hi, my name is Dana Jackson and I teach math and science to our Fourth Graders.  I was born and raised in Belton and graduated from Belton High.  I received my degree in elementary education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and enjoy teaching at Leon Heights.  My husband, Terry, and I have three children -- one in high school, one in college, and one serving in the army reserve.

My name is Holly Mayes.  I taught at the middle school level for 14 years before joining the Leon Heights family in 2006.  I love teaching Fourth Grade Language Arts/Social Studies!  I attended Leon Heights MANY years ago, and I am a proud graduate of Belton High School.  I received my teaching degree from Baylor University.  My husband, Mike, and I are blessed with two beautiful daughters:  Taylor and Payton.

Fourth graders will be very busy in our classrooms. Students will participate in hands-on math, problem solving and math games. They will participate in the Balanced Literacy program which includes Reading Workshop, Writing Workshop, Poetry Workshop, Word Study and Texas History! Past students rated science experiments, research projects, and creative writing activities as favorite learning experiences. Special events during the year include field trips to Stillhouse Hollow Outdoor Learning Center and Inner Space Caverns. Come ready to learn and have some fun!
