Our PE goal is to promote children's enjoyment and participation of moderate-to-vigorous

physical activity.  We strive to keep the students active over 50% of the time.  Classes include

C.A.T.C.H. warm-ups, Go Fitness Activities and a cool down.  Students run, jump, dance and move the whole body.  Health awareness and safety are also taught.

We are a   C.A.T.C.H.  campus!

Coordinated Approach To Children's Health (C.A.T.C.H.) is an activity/movement based educational program that teaches students the importance of aerobic activity and healthy nutrition as it relates to a healthy lifestyle. Students participate in a variety of camouflage fitness activities--games/activities that are fun, but have an element of fitness included at the main focus. Students also learn about healthy snacks and meals, and the need to develop healthy habits now while they are young.

Leon Heights P.E. Receives BEEF GRANT

January 4, 2007

The Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation awarded Paula Meyer, Brenda Potts and Debra Johnson a grant for approximately $1000.

Paula Meyer wrote a grant to bring DRUMS ALIVE…Kid’s Beats to our Leon Heights campus. The program was developed by Carrie Ekins from Germany. Drums Alive is a dynamic movement and rhythm program that builds confidence as it develops whole brain and whole body creating an overall sense of well being.  The program develops students physically, cognitively and socially.  Each student uses a large exercise ball as their “drum”; stabilized on a ball holder with a pair of drums sticks.  They are guided through a series of fun cardiovascular exercises to upbeat music designed specifically for Kids Beats. Our plan is to implement Drums Alive in our music and physical education classes in spring of 2008.
