Federal Programs

Welcome to the Department of Federal Programs! The purpose of this department is to provide technical support for Belton I. S. D. campuses as they implemented the pieces of the No Child Left Behind Act. This page will provide you with ways to learn more about the pieces of legislation.

Title I, Part A

Title I, Part A provides supplemental funding for seven campuses within the district. The funding is for resources to help schools with high numbers of students who qualify for the federal lunch program. The purpose of the funding is to ensure that the campuses have access to high-quality, scientifically researched instructional practices. Our Title I, Part A School-wide campuses include:

Parental Involvement is a large part of NCLB. Click here for more information on Parental Involvement.

Title II, Part A

Belton I. S. D. receives supplemental funding to improve student achievement through strategies designed to improve our instruction. The program uses scientifically based professional development interventions and requires districts and schools are held accountable for improvements in student academic performance.
 
Strategies to improve instruction include but are not limited to:
  • Professional development
  • Activities related to Highly Qualified Teachers

Title II, Part D

Title II, Part D - Enhancing Education Through Technology provides supplemental funds to improve student academic achievement through the use of technology in elementary and secondary schools.  The program encourages the integration of technology resources and systems with teacher training and professional development to establish research-based instructional models. Districts were notified in March of 2010 that funds for Title II, Part D will no longer allocated after the 2009-2010 school year.

Title III

Title IV, Part A

Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities (Title IV, Part A) provides state and local education agencies (LEA) with supplemental funding to develop and enhance education programs targeting violence prevention and drug prevention for students and employees in elementary and secondary schools.  Districts were notified in March of 2010 that funds for Title IV, Part A will no longer allocated after the 2009-2010 school year.
