A Note From Our Principal

sandersDear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Southwest Elementary! We look forward to an exciting school year, one in which quality education, as always, is our focus. Our goal is to provide our students with the best education in a safe learning environment.
We look forward to teaching your children and have only the highest expectations for their performance. Our students will participate in a comprehensive curriculum, which emphasizes reading, writing, problem solving and respect for themselves and all others. We hope you will find this website helpful; it gives you basic information about school procedures, events and activities. Information will be updated throughout the year so please check it regularly. Again, have a wonderful school year!

Assistant Principal

Michelle Tish

Howdy, my name is Michelle Tish and this is my first year as Assistant Principal at Southwest Elementary. I am so thrilled to be joining such a wonderful campus. I am a graduate of Texas A & M University (Whoop!), with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics, and of Tarleton Central Texas, with a Masters in Education. I spent ten years in the business world working in retail management for H-E-B Grocery Company and sales for M&M Mars. I then went back to school to become a teacher. Before becoming an Assistant Principal, I taught for 9 years: the first 3 years in Bruceville-Eddy teaching 2nd grade and the last 6 years teaching English/Language Arts at Belton Intermediate School and Belton Middle School.

My husband, Dwight, and I have been married 22 years and have two children that both attend Belton schools. Our daughter, Jamie, is a senior at Belton High School. She is on the varsity soccer team and plays on the Centex 92 Cyclone Black soccer team. Our son, Dustin, is a 7th grader at Belton Middle School. He plays 7th grade football and is planning to try out for other sports during the year. He is also a member of the Bad Company select baseball team. Dwight and I spend lots of time going to and from practices and watching games.

I am looking forward to meeting all of the students and parents at Southwest. I hope to work in partnership with parents and teachers to ensure each student at Southwest reaches their highest potential. Please come by the office and say hello.
