Health ServicesAlicia Panther, RN Taking care of daily illnesses and injuries is just a small part of the school nurse job. Prevention is the main focus of the school health serivces. The school nurse is mandated by the State of Texas to enforce the immunization requirements for school enrollment, to do vision and hearing screenings for specific grades, and to do spinal screening for specific grades also. Parents are notified in case of follow-up needs if a student has not passed a screening test. Nurse's office hours: 7:20 AM to 3:20 PM. Closed for lunch between Noon and 12:30 PM . Phone # 254-215-3708 Vision and Hearing screening: Grades PK-K-1-3-5 Scoliosis screening: Grade 5 State of Texas Immunization requirements for school year 2007-2008: Pre-Kindergarten and Early ChildhoodDPT: 4 doses POLIO: 3 doses MMR: 1 dose. First dose must be after 1st birthday. HIB: 3 doses with 3rd one on or after 12 months OR 1 dose after 15 month. (not due when child turns age 5) HEP B: 3 doses VARICELLA: 1 dose on or after 1st birthday. Parent or physician validated history of varicella illness is acceptable in lieu of vaccine. PNEUMOCOCCAL:(not due when child turns 5) At least 3 doses with one given on or after 1st birthday OR at least 1 dose after the 2nd birthday HEPATITIS A: 2 doses (6 months apart) TB SKIN TEST: Required for all students entering from a foreign country.
KINDERGARTEN TO 12th GRADE DPT: 5 doses of DPT OR 4 doses if 4th dose was on or after the 4th birthday POLIO: 4 doses with 1 on or after the 4th birthday OR 3 doses if the 3rd one was on or after the 4th birthday MMR: 2 doses.
