The 2022 Bond Program included funding for approximately $6 million in safety enhancements, including playground fall protection, safety vestibules, keyless access locks, campus security fencing, and renovations to the Sparta Elementary pickup and drop off area. Other planned enhancements include exterior lighting and security camera additions and replacements, bottle refill stations and intercom system repair or replacement.

Safety and accessibility upgrades to elementary and pre-school playgrounds will begin May 29, 2023 and will conclude August 11, 2023.  Additions will include curbed fall protection at each campus playground along with increased sidewalk access to playscapes and swings. Additional playground equipment will be installed at the Belton Early Childhood School.

Individual campus safety projects including shatter resistant film, secure vestibules, campus building and door identification upgrades, keyless access, improved video systems, and lighting improvements are each progressing rapidly as construction schedules are finalized.

The district is also closely monitoring developments from the Texas School Safety Center and 88th Legislative Session, as new legislative requirements and Texas Education Administration guidance is released.
