On June 16, 2021, the Texas governor signed into law Senate Bill 797. This bill, passed in the 87th Texas Legislature, requires a public elementary or secondary school to display in a conspicuous place in each building of the school a durable poster or framed copy of the United States national motto, "In God We Trust," if the poster or framed copy is donated for display at the school.

Belton ISD has received such a donation and will display the posters in compliance with the law. 

The Central Texas Republican Women’s group donated framed posters to Belton ISD in October 2022, for each of the district's 19 campuses that were operating at the time of the donation.
