Entering his 25th year in education, Mike Morgan was named Belton ISD’s Assistant Superintendent of Student Services in June 2019. In this role, Mr. Morgan will provide leadership in the development, implementation, and coordination of the district’s student services programs including: Health Services, Safety and Security, Student Services and Transportation.
Mr. Morgan’s career in education began in 1995 when he accepted a teaching and coaching position at Gatesville ISD. He went on to serve as the district’s Athletic Director and Head Football Coach before moving to Belton in 2007 to coach football and track and teach government and economics at Belton High School. In 2008, Mr. Morgan was named Assistant Athletic Director, working as the athletic academic and compliance coordinator for all Belton ISD secondary campuses while still coaching football, powerlifting, and track. Mr. Morgan held this position until January of 2017, when he was named Belton ISD Director of Athletics.
Mr. Morgan graduated from Southwest Texas State University in December of 1994 obtaining a degree in Exercise Sports Science with a minor in History. He completed the teacher education program at SWT and completed student teaching in the fall of 1994. Mr. Morgan earned a Master of Arts degree in Athletic Administration from Concordia University- Irvine in 2017. He has served as the 12-6A UIL District Executive Committee Chairman for the past three years.
Mr. Morgan has been married for 24 years to his wife, Becky. She is a 4th Grade ELA teacher at Sparta Elementary. Their daughter Abbey, is a BHS graduate and is a senior at Texas Tech University. Their son Seth is a student at Belton High School.
