    Belton ISD is excited to introduce its Grow Your Own Scholarship-Loan Program. Belton ISD has made a commitment to attract and retain high-quality, bilingually-certified teachers to serve our growing number of Limited English Proficient students.
     
    Belton ISD has coordinated with the Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation (BEEF), Temple College (TC) Foundation, Texas A&M University-Central Texas (TAMUCT), and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) to assist low-income and bilingual candidates by awarding two scholarships per year to selected candidates.
     
    Components:
    1. The Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation has agreed to provide six annual scholarships of $500 to participants.
    2. The TC Foundation, TAMUCT, and UMHB have agreed to provide two annual scholarships for selected candidates: $500 per semester for up to five semesters of two school years at TC, $750 per semester for up to five semesters of two school years at TAMUCT, and $2,500 per semester for up to ten consecutive fall and spring semesters of five school years at UMHB.
    3. Belton ISD will also offer student loans: $500 per semester for up to five semesters of two school years at TC with no more than $1,000 awarded in one calendar year, $1,000 per semester for up to five semesters of two school years at TAMUCT with no more than $2,000 awarded in one calendar year, or $1,000 per semester for up to ten semesters of five school years at UMHB with no more than $2,000 awarded in one calendar year. 
    The students will sign a contract for the loan committing to teach no less than five years upon receiving teacher certification. The awardee will be forgiven 20% of the loan for each year of service to the District.
     
    The completed application is due to the Belton ISD HR Department by April 15th.
