Leadership Development

Our Vision for Leadership Development

Leadership is a behavior, not a position. Whether in the classroom, the cafeteria, behind the wheel of a school bus, or coaching on the field, every single staff member in Belton ISD is a leader.

We are fully committed to investing in intentional experiences that help our entire team grow, ensuring that our students are always surrounded by exceptional talent. Through a five-year partnership with The Holdsworth Center launched in 2024, we are building a deep pipeline of high-performing leaders across all levels of the district.

Our Foundation: The Leadership Definition

Our leadership definition provides a clear road map and creates alignment in leadership practices district-wide anchored on three core pillars: building culture, pursuing excellence and empowering people.

1. Build Culture

  • Communicate for Impact: Actively listens and strategically articulates thoughts and ideas effectively using multiple modes of communication.

  • Cultivate Relationships: Develops a culture of value, support, and growth amongst stakeholders.

  • Model Empathy: Demonstrates sensitivity, concern, and respect towards others’ feelings and experiences.

2. Empower People

  • Promote Growth: Embraces opportunities for learning in pursuit of better results for each and every student.

  • Focus on What Matters Most: Strategically prioritizes work that positively impacts student success.

  • Create Synergy: Promotes the mindset that we can achieve more collectively than we can individually.

3. Pursue Excellence

  • Model Continuous Improvement: Engages in reflection, refinement, and implementation of systems and processes.

  • Inspire Innovation: Demonstrates and ignites creativity, forward-thinking, and a willingness to explore new ideas and approaches.
