Library Services
Parents have a vital role in their child’s learning, especially reading. Knowing what your child is reading and being able to either read with them, ask questions, or discuss their reading is essential. With that in mind, we have ensured you can access your child's library catalog here.
How to Access Your Child's History and Checkouts
The video below will walk you through how to access your child's Destiny account, view their checkout history, and limit/block titles you do not want your child to have access to in the library.
If parents have concerns about specific books available in the library, they are encouraged to speak with their child’s school librarian/digital information specialist. The librarian/digital information specialist can ensure a student is unable to check out any book flagged as inappropriate for their child and how you can access Destiny to block titles for your child.
As required by House Bill 900, 88th R.S. (2023), TSLAC has adopted mandatory collection development standards for school libraries.

School Library Advisory Council
The board has established a local School Library Advisory Council (SLAC) composed of parents, librarians, community representatives, classroom teachers, district administrators nominated by the board, who work with the district to ensure library materials reflect community values and meet state library standards. The council reviews and makes recommendations on adding or removing books, ensures materials are age-appropriate, advises on library policies, and may suggest partnerships with local libraries and organizations. Meeting at least twice each year at the BISD Administration Building, the council provides a strong parent and community voice in guiding school library decisions.
Meeting dates, agendas, and minutes will be posted here.

2025-2026 Book Order Postings for Public Review
In compliance with state law, Belton ISD will provide access for the community to review a list of all library materials that are proposed for purchase by school libraries. Library materials recommended for purchase will be posted for 30 days to provide staff, students, parents, and community members an opportunity to review and comment on the materials prior to purchase. Comments must be submitted by completing the district’s form, which can be found at the link below. The list will be reviewed by the School Library Advisory Council as the SLAC makes a recommendation to the Belton ISD Board regarding approval of proposed materials for purchase. This list will include all donated materials and proposed purchases.
Note: All ISBN formats (paperback, hardcover, ebook, audiobook, language translations, etc.) will be included in the recommendation for approval for each individual title included in the list.
Materials added to the purchase list have been selected by Belton ISD Library Services in accordance with state law and local Board policy.
