Project Update - September 2024

The 2022 Bond included funding for Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Fine Arts additions at Belton High School, upgrades for the existing CTE spaces, and other capital improvements and renovations.
 
Following the passage of the 2022 Bond, the district collaborated with stakeholders to identify program requirements. Architectural design began in the fall of 2022 and was completed by O’Connell Robertson Architects in April 2023. 

The projects include -

Fine Arts Addition:
The building design included a new band hall with ensemble and percussion and office and storage spaces for instruments, uniforms, and color guards. 

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Addition:
The building designs consist of a CTE Addition that includes classroom spaces for ROTC, AV, and Culinary Programs, portrait/broadcasting/green studio spaces, and a kitchen and cafe. 

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Renovation/Upgrades:
The designs for the existing CTE building renovations included upgrades to the construction shop, wood shop, and classrooms for agriculture and vet tech programs.

September 2024 Update: 

Band Hall Addition: Punch list items are nearing final completion pending acoustic doors and frames.

CTE Building Addition: The new ROTC spaces, Culinary Arts spaces, and Audio/Visual classrooms and support spaces reached contractual substantial completion in August 2024 just in time for the start of the 2024-2025 School Year. All areas are in full operation. The construction team is currently finishing up remaining punch list items.

CTE Building Renovations: Renovations to the existing CC Building reached contractual substantial completion for the new Construction classrooms, Vet Tech lab, and Ag classrooms shortly after the Labor Day Holiday in September 2024. Construction work on the two new construction lab spaces are on schedule to reach substantial completion by the first week of October 2024.

Interior Renovations / HVAC Updates: All interior work including new corridor flooring and corridor paint is substantially complete. All new A/C units are up and running throughout the building. The district’s HVAC commissioning agent is currently working collaboratively with the design and construction teams to review all work to ensure compliance with contract requirements. HVAC commissioning is expected to be complete within the next 60 days.

*Black Box Renovation: Demolition of the existing band hall spaces was completed in August 2024. New work to adapt the existing spaces for Theater Arts instruction and performances in the new Black Box is nearing final completion. This renovation work is expected to reach Contractual Substantial Completion in October 2024.
