BISD Seniors Honored at Military Enlistment Recognition Night
Fifteen Belton High School and Belton New Tech High School @ Waskow graduating seniors were sworn in Wednesday evening during an inaugural ceremony honoring their enlistment into the United States Armed Services.
The ceremony, held at the Pittenger Fine Arts Center,was hosted by Belton ISD Career and Technical Education Department with the support of local military recruiters and BSH MCJROTC.
“Tonight, is devoted to the students who are united by their selfless courage to serve our country,” said Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon about the students enlisting in the United States Airforce, Army, National Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy.
“We are here to recognize and honor the dedication made by our graduating seniors who have bravely chosen to enlist in the United States Armed Services,” she said.
The ceremony included individual student recognitions, a peer-to-peer speech from BHS MJROTC Commanding Officer Jacob Fouke, and a guest of honor speech from University of Mary Hardin-Baylor assistant professor of military science Captain Charles V Wilson, United States Army.
“As you depart into the world of the military and adulthood, know that you possess a great power, the power of decision,” said Fouke. “When you display this power of decision you possess, you will become a leader. You will inspire others to want to be at the same level you are.”
Our students enlisting with the armed forces are: Alain Ayan Jr. and Rhian Lykins, United States Airforce; Silas Howell, Ruben Mendez Jr., Christen Paslay, Angelo Sibille, and Sean Williams, United States Army; Josette Mercado and Isabella Schoolcraft, Texas Army National Guard; Chance Barrineau, Tristan Bland, Jacob Fouke, Antonio Gallegos, Samuel Garcia, and Damion Simmons, United States Marines Corps; and Phoenix Hawk and Timothy Ryken, United States Navy.
