At the November 18, 2024, Board of Trustees meeting, Chief Financial Officer Melissa Lafferty shared the results of Belton ISD's School Financial Accountability Rating System of Texas (FIRST). Administered by the Texas Education Agency, FIRST promotes fiscal responsibility and transparency among public and charter school districts.

The system evaluates districts on 15 key financial indicators, including fund balance, debt management, and overall financial stability. Ratings range from Superior Achievement, Above Standard Achievement, and Standard Achievement to Substandard Achievement.

Belton ISD earned a Superior Achievement rating “A” with a score of 98 points for the 2023-2024 school year, based on fiscal data from 2022-2023. This “Superior” rating, the highest in the state, reflects the district's exceptional financial management and reporting practices. Notably, this is the 13th consecutive year Belton ISD has received this distinguished honor.

Superintendent Dr. Malinda Golden commented, "This achievement underscores our unwavering commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency. Despite the significant challenges posed by inadequate state funding, we remain dedicated to being good stewards of our resources. This recognition is a testament to our focus on managing financial limitations while ensuring the best educational outcomes for our students."

Belton ISD proudly recognized its invaluable partnership with Acer as their Community Partner during the recognition portion of the meeting. Acer’s Temple repair facility plays a vital role in supporting the district's Techsperts program, ensuring students have access to reliable technology. By collaborating with Belton ISD’s Techsperts, Acer helps students gain certifications, practical experience, and summer employment opportunities. Their team efficiently manages weekly device repairs, minimizing classroom disruptions and keeping technology ready for learning. 

Belton ISD’s Chief Technology Officer, Shad McGaha, highlighted Acer’s contributions: “Acer’s support extends far beyond repairs. Each summer, they handle extensive device refreshes, updating and preparing all devices for the upcoming school year. Their deep commitment to Belton ISD and our community helps us deliver a quality education to each and every student.”
