Belton ISD Announces Selection for Natatorium Director
Belton ISD Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Todd Schiller announced today that he is recommending Kimberly Davies as the district’s new Natatorium Director. Davies will provide instruction and coach students in club as well as develop and implement Aquatic Programs for Belton ISD and the surrounding community.
“It’s exciting to welcome such a skilled and dedicated athletic leader like Coach Davies to Belton ISD,” Schiller said. “She has a proven track record setting a standard of coaching, instructional and performance excellence for an aquatics staff and athletes, and she will continue this for the students and patrons of the Roy and Jean Potts Belton Swim Center.”
Davies has served the last three years as the Assistant Athletic Director in Leander ISD, where she has overseen six high schools and eight middle schools, including swimming operations. While in Leander, she led Vandegrift High School to two State Championship titles as the head swimming and diving coach in 2015 and 2016.
“Coach Davies brings a lot of valuable insight to our athletic team. Her expertise and knowledge will help guide our aquatics program into the future,” said Belton ISD Athletic Director Sam Skidmore. “Not only is she a State champion, but she has an extensive background in athletics administration. We are very excited to have her join our athletic department!”
She has been voted 5A Coach of the Year in 2015 and again in 2016, and has led multiple male and female Division I athletes and one qualifier for the Olympic Trials. While at Vandegrift, she also served as the Girls Athletic Coordinator.
“I’m very excited to join Belton ISD and thrilled to step into this new role,” Davies said. “Belton ISD has a strong legacy of swimming success, and as Natatorium Director, I’m excited to support the growing swim and aquatic programs.”
Davies earned her bachelor’s degree of science in Applied Health Sciences from Wheaton College and her Masters of Education in Exercise Physiology from the University of Texas at Austin. She has also served as a chemistry teacher, Integrated Physics & Chemistry, and AP Environmental Science teacher.
“I’m looking forward to meeting and listening to the community, staff, parents and other stakeholders to see how Belton ISD can continue to use the Roy and Jean Potts Swim Center as a tool to provide aquatic opportunities for all students and the community,” she said.
The school board will consider Schiller’s recommendation at their next regular meeting on Monday, October 21, at 6 p.m. in the Pittenger Fine Arts Center (400 North Wall Street, Belton, TX).
