BEEF Prize Patrol Makes Stops at Belton ISD Schools
Members of the Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation (BEEF), along with Belton ISD Superintendent Matt Smith, surprised teachers across the district on Wednesday with money to support a wish list of items that will enhance learning opportunities.
In total, $15,000 in grants was given Wednesday to support seven projects at four campuses. An additional $41,000 was awarded in December.
“Teachers devote so much time and effort to their students, and this is one of the ways we get to give a little something back to them,” said Ellen Burnett, vice president of programs for BEEF. “This money will give these teachers the funds to purchase the supplies and tools for education that they might not be able to get otherwise. Most importantly, it will help bring more innovative learning into our classrooms.”
Wednesday’s grants will go toward everything from headphones and books to support for music education and sensory learning accessories.
“This financial support reinforces to our teachers that their work matters,” said Dawn Schiller principal of Southwest Elementary. “In their hands, its value will be multiplied by the creation of exceptional learning experiences. Thank you to the BEEF donors who are helping support the good work our teachers are doing. We appreciate your partnership.”
BEEF was founded in 1992 by BISD alumni to enhance the quality of education for all students in Belton ISD. The independent, community-based non-profit provides teacher grants, scholarships and other programs to support economically disadvantaged students.
