Belton ISD Moves to Scenario 2 of District COVID-19 Response Plan on April 12
On Monday, April 12, Belton ISD will move to Scenario 2 of our COVID-19 Response Plan. As Superintendent Dr. Matt Smith shared in this video message to the Big Red Community, the decision to transition is based on the incidence rate in Bell County along with an increase in availability of vaccinations. Belton ISD has seen a similar decrease in active cases.
In Scenario 2, prevention and mitigation strategies remain a priority, however, restrictions have been adjusted to allow increased access to campuses, higher capacity at events and opportunities for more in-person spring celebrations. Some other things to note include:
- Masks will still be required for all students and staff while in Scenario 2. Distancing to the greatest extent possible will still be encouraged as mask breaks and allowances for outdoor activities are made.
- Quarantine requirements for students and staff who have come in close contact with someone infected with COVID-19 and for staff that has been vaccinated for COVID-19 have been updated to reflect changes recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and to follow public health guidance from the Texas Education Agency. These changes are also supported by the Bell County Public Health District.
- Daily temperature checks for some groups of students will be discontinued in Scenario 2.
- Expanded a la carte meal options will be incorporated by campus cafeterias based on space and availability.
- Wednesday early releases already on the calendar will continue as scheduled.
- For secondary students: Block schedules will continue all year, regardless of our scenario. The A/B days are intended to lessen the number of transitions throughout the day.
- At-Home Learning remains a learning environment option for families for the remainder of the school year.
