Belton ISD Hires New Principal for Charter Oak Elementary
The Belton ISD Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Christopher Lockamy as the next principal at Charter Oak Elementary at a special meeting Tuesday morning.
“Mr. Lockamy’s diverse experiences in education make him the ideal leader for the Charter Oak community,” said Superintendent Matt Smith. “His professional experiences demonstrate a commitment to partnerships with staff, families and community to ensure all students are connected and have exceptional learning experiences.”
During his 12 years in education, Lockamy has served as a teacher, social worker, instructional coach and assistant principal. Most recently Lockamy was the assistant principal at Bluebonnet Elementary School, a dual language community in Round Rock ISD.
“I am excited to work in partnership with our students, staff, families and the Charter Oak Elementary community as we strive to achieve our Belton ISD vision: to empower each and every student to pursue their dreams and enrich their communities,” Lockamy said.
Lockamy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, a Master of Science from Columbia University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas-Arlington. He expects to complete a Doctorate of Education from Baylor University in December.
In other news, the Board approved the use of $4.8 million of the district’s Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER) grants to go toward employee retention stipends. More details about the stipends will be released next month.
