Current title/school? Assistant principal at Sparta Elementary

What inspires you to work in Belton ISD? Where else can you spend so much time among others who love what you do? I am surrounded every day by a school community working hard to improve their practice and build meaningful relationships with students. We might work in different roles, but we are all focused on the same thing — the way this student is about to succeed, the worry about this family's hardships, the excitement about this student's accomplishments. It's a shared experience that can't be replicated in another profession.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself. I'm a big fan of the Harry Potter series. Harry and I even share the same birthday! Harry Potter inspired an entire generation of kids to read. If that's not magic, I don't know what is.

What was a pivotal moment in your career? I became a parent about five years into my career. Every student was now someone else's child, their everything. I realized the parents of my students all wanted the same for their children as I did for mine — to create the kindest and happiest kids we can.

Academics? Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies and a Master of Arts in instructional technology, both from Angelo State University.
