Meet Paul Esper

Current title/school? Seventh-grade math teacher and boys' athletics coach

What inspires you to work in Belton ISD? I have always felt the desire to serve my community. I realize that Belton has a diverse demographic of students, and I have a personal connection with the military families that attend SBMS. I truly believe that Belton ISD has the vision of meeting the needs of each and every student and allows its teaching staff to be bold in the classroom so that can happen.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself. I was a bounty hunter in Texas for 10 years, where I apprehended 1,354 fugitives. I also served in the Army as an MP for five years on active duty and was in the Army Reserves as an instructor for eight years.

What was a pivotal moment in your career? A pivotal moment in my career was when I completed my graduate degree and understood the total picture of the educational landscape. Why decisions are made the way they are. Mostly, I was able to better prepare myself for my students and meet their educational needs.

Academics? Bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
