Belton ISD Names Ashlie Thomas as Principal of Charter Oak Elementary

BELTON, TX — Belton ISD is thrilled to announce the promotion of Ashlie Thomas to principal of Charter Oak Elementary School. With 12 years of experience in education, Thomas has been serving as assistant principal at Lakewood Elementary since February 2020. Prior to that, she taught first and fourth grades and worked as an instructional specialist for Ector County ISD. Additionally, she has taught business leadership at Odessa College. In March, Thomas was honored by the district for securing a $12,940 technology grant awarded by Education Service Center Region 12.

Denise Sharp, Executive Director of Campus Leadership for Elementary Campuses, remarked, “Ashlie Thomas has demonstrated herself as an outstanding leader and educator. Her dedication to education, students, staff and families is certain to lead the Charter Oak Elementary community to further success. We are fortunate to have her as a campus leader in Belton ISD.”

Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (EC-6) from the University of Texas at Arlington, followed by a Master of Education in Leadership and Policy Studies.

Thomas will begin her new role on July 15.
