Belton ISD Graduation Ceremonies Postponed Due to Storm

Dear Parents,

I am deeply saddened to inform you of the postponement of the Belton ISD Class of 2024 graduation ceremonies, originally scheduled at the Cadence Bank Center on May 23, 2024, due to the destructive storm that hit our community earlier this evening. As of 9 p.m., The Cadence Bank Center was without power, and there was no confirmation of when power would be restored.

Our Belton ISD families and staff members have been deeply affected by tonight’s storm and several neighborhoods have sustained devastating damage. We believe our community needs to focus on caring for their homes and families at this time. It is also important to know that our law enforcement partners and first responders have asked for our assistance to help keep traffic off the road to ensure safety as our cities begin clean-up and restoration.

We know how important graduation dates are for our seniors and their families. We are working hard to determine the extent of the damage in our community. Our priority is to ensure our graduates have a memorable and meaningful celebration of their accomplishments. We will share the new graduation date tomorrow, May 23rd. We will communicate with you via email, on the district website and through social media.

Graduation is a significant milestone for our students, and we look forward to celebrating with you. We acknowledge the disappointment and inconvenience that this postponement may cause.

We are a united community that bands together in times of need. This is one of those times to care for those who are hurting across our community.

Sincerely,
Malinda Golden, Ph.D.
Superintendent
