Belton ISD Closed Thursday, May 23 Due to Storm Damage
Belton ISD will be closed on Thursday, May 23 due to the impact of today’s storm on staff and families in our community. Only staff needed to evaluate and mitigate the damages caused by the storm should report to work. These staff members will be contacted by their supervisors. Hourly employees will receive pay for hours worked in addition to their normal pay if they are asked by their supervisor to come in during this time.
Our community has been deeply affected by tonight’s storm and several neighborhoods have sustained devastating damage. We believe that our staff needs to focus on caring for their homes and families at this time. It is also important to know that our law enforcement partners and first responders have asked for our assistance in keeping traffic off the roads to ensure safety as our cities begin clean-up and restoration. For all of these reasons, BISD graduation ceremonies scheduled for May 23 have also been postponed. We will share the new graduation date tomorrow.
We are a united community that bands together in times of need. This is one of those times to care for those who are hurting across our community.
Sincerely,
Malinda Golden, Ph.D.
Superintendent
