Lakewood Elementary School has been honored with the prestigious Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools award for the 2023-2024 academic year, recognizing its dedication to fostering a positive campus culture and nurturing emotionally supportive environments. Among the 612 campuses nationwide, Lakewood stands out for its outstanding achievement.

As part of the Capturing Kids’ Hearts program, Lakewood’s educators and staff undergo training to facilitate connections between students and adults, fostering classrooms where learning thrives and students eagerly engage each day.

Campuses eligible for this accolade were evaluated based on specific criteria, including nomination through observation, the extent of Capturing Kids’ Hearts implementation across all staff, as gauged by online surveys, and evidence indicating substantial improvements in attendance, discipline, climate and culture, or academics attributed to the program.
