Board Recognizes 253 Students for Earning National Academic Distinctions
At the September 16, 2024 meeting, Belton ISD Trustees recognized 184 students as AP scholars and 69 students earned national academic honors from the College Board across all three Belton ISD high schools.
Deputy Superintendent Mike Morgan also provided a 2022 Bond project update. Five of the six safety and security projects including campus security vestibules, exterior lighting upgrades, playground fall protection and equipment, water refill stations, and shatter resistant film have been completed district-wide. The keyless access and security camera upgrades project is in-progress and estimated for completion in November. Projects already serving students including James L. Burrell Elementary, Hubbard Branch Elementary, Belton HS additions/renovations, Lake Belton Middle School addition, and Southwest Elementary addition are in the final stages of completing punch list items. The new Ag Facility is nearing completion and the new Delta Facility is expected to open in January.
Morgan also provided an update on input collected from staff, student, and parent surveys and focus groups on cell phone use. The district’s next steps will be to meet with campus administrators to discuss recommendations and draft a plan that clearly outlines expectations and potential consequences. Stakeholder feedback on the plan will be sought and the tentative timeline is to bring a cell phone guidelines proposal to the Board for review at the regular meeting in October.
