Current title/school? I teach fifth grade math and science at Tarver Elementary.
What inspires you to work in Belton ISD? I love working in Belton ISD because I feel valued, appreciated and respected. I feel that our administration provides us many opportunities to grow professionally and to share our opinions and ideas. We have an enormous variety of resources to ensure quality instruction for our students, and everything we do revolves around what is best practice for our kids.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself. I am a kid at heart. I love to play video games and card and board games. My favorite games are Minecraft, Mario Kart, Pictionary and Shanghai Rummy. I also love to watch scary movies, and I listen to Christmas music all year long.
What was a pivotal moment in your career? My pivotal moment came when I left teaching after about six years to enter the US Army. Due to an injury in Basic training and a long stay in a physical therapy program at Fort Jackson, I was told that the only way I would ever be able to return to Basic to graduate was to have surgery on my foot to have pins and screws placed in the bones. Knowing that the rehabilitation process would take months/years, and after a lot of thinking and praying about my choice, I decided to return to teaching. I knew then that teaching was my calling for life and that God had a plan for me. (In the end, I still got to experience the military life because I married an Army soldier!)
Academics? Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois.
