Current title/school? Digital Information Specialist at Southwest Elementary
What inspires you to work in Belton ISD? This is my 16th year in Belton ISD. Both of my sons grew up attending BISD schools, and I have had the honor to work on five different BISD campuses. Belton ISD is full of such amazing faculty, staff and administration. BISD is a district that is constantly striving to be better for the good of its students and this inspires me to do the same for the students I work with each day.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself. I have taught at the elementary, middle school and high school level here in BISD. A fun fact is that I have had the privilege to teach some of the same students in elementary school, middle school as well as in high school. Needless to say, those particular students and myself are bonded for life!
What was a pivotal moment in your career? This year has been an extremely pivotal time in my career. I was a classroom teacher for 19 years, so moving to a new position was incredibly challenging for me. However, the Southwest Elementary staff along with my fellow district digital information specialists, have been so helpful and encouraging. BISD really is one huge family.
Academics? Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science-Social Work from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (also certified bilingual teacher EC-8 and 6-12 secondary Spanish)
What is Meet BISD? Meet BISD is an online introduction to teachers, staff and administrators who are making a difference in the Big Red Community. Want to recommend someone to be introduced? Email email@example.com.
