Belton ISD to Host Community Summits
BELTON, TX — Belton ISD will host four Community Summits in February and March to discuss the current state of the district and visions for the future. The two-hour virtual meetings are open to the public.
“We value the participation and voice of our community” said Dr. Malinda Golden, deputy superintendent. “We believe hearing these voices, listening to their ideas and dreams, is the way to create the best path forward for the district.”
The district currently enrolls over 12,600 students in pre-K through 12th grade. Because of fast growth in Bell County and Belton ISD’s strong reputation, demographers anticipate the district will reach an enrollment of more than 16,000 students by 2030.
“As a district, we’re working to set the direction for the future of Belton ISD, a future that continues our tradition of excellence for each and every student,” Golden said. “We need the community to be co-navigators with us.”
The long-range planning began in Fall 2020 with the adoption of district goals by the Board of Trustees and the creation of Journey of a Graduate, six competencies identified as most important to instill in students during the course of their Belton ISD education.
“We now know what the community’s aspirations are for our students,” Golden said. “The big question that remains is - how do we get there? Our strategic plan will set us on the right path.”
The four virtual Community Summits will follow the same agenda, so the public is invited to attend the Summit that works best with their schedule. Spanish translators will be available at all Summits.
