Belton ISD School Nurses Lead Efforts to Vaccinate District Employees
Since February, school nurses in Belton ISD have vaccinated about 800 of the district’s employees against COVID-19.
“These teachers and staff members are our co-workers on the front lines of educating students in Belton ISD,” said Marylisa Fanning, director of health services. “It is a true joy to be able to provide this service to them.”
About 450 vaccinations happened this week with the assistance of Career & Technical Education students.
“We jump at opportunities for our students to interact in real-world settings,” said Stephanie Ferguson, director of career and technology. “This experience had the double benefit of our students helping their teachers and school officials get vaccinated.”
The Bell County Public Health District provided the vaccinations to the school district for distribution. The district plans to provide the second dose to employees in a few weeks.
