Registration Opens for Summer Swim Lessons
BELTON, TX — Registration is now open for summer swim lessons at Belton ISD’s Roy and Jean Potts Belton Swim Center.
“Swimming is an important life skill,” said Kimberly Davies, natatorium director. “It’s something every child needs to learn how to do, especially in a water-heavy community like ours with the lake and lots of community pools.”
Beginning in June, four sessions will be offered for varying levels of swimmers. Each two-week session includes eight 30-minutes lessons. The cost for each session is $80.
“We have opportunities for children as young as nine months,” Davies said. “It’s one of those activities that no matter where you’re at in your learning, there’s a class for you.”
Lessons are taught by certified lifeguards with a low student/teacher ratio, Davies said.
Safety protocols will follow Belton ISD’s COVID-19 Response Plan, including screening participants for symptoms, sanitizing between lessons and required masking of anyone not actively swimming.
“Taking a lesson is a great first step in helping your children feel safe around water,” Davies said. “I’m glad that we have this wonderful facility and the ability to offer this service to our community.”
The Belton Swim Center is located at 600 Lake Rd. behind Belton High School’s Tiger Field and the baseball/softball fields. It includes an eight-lane competition pool and a three-lane instructional pool. Both are used for lessons.
