Current title/school? Fourth grade English/Language Arts teacher at Pirtle Elemenatry
What inspires you to work in Belton ISD? Plain and simple, it's the people. I'm surrounded by amazing people and children daily. This community is in a league of its own and I couldn't be more proud to be a part of it.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself. Back in 2003-2009, I was as assistant boys varsity basketball coach when living in Omaha, Neb. I was fortunate enough to be a part of a team and coaches who set some very lofty goals for themselves to become state champions. These kids put in the time and effort to make sure they would not fall short of this goal. Sure enough, we achieved this together and were state champions in basketball two years in a row.
What was a pivotal moment in your career? In my beginning years of teaching, I recall a time when a student had moved on to fourth grade after I spent the previous year as their third grade teacher. That student wrote a letter to me saying "thank you" for having faith in them as a learner and showing confidence in their abilities. That was a big wake up call for me as a young educator and realizing how teachers all across the world can make such an enormous impact on children.
