Belton ISD Will Offer In-Person Learning Only in 2021-2022
Belton ISD will offer only in-person learning next year after the Texas Education Agency has said it will not allow a pandemic-related virtual option for the 2021-2022 school year.
“We know that many students and teachers in the Big Red Community thrived in the virtual learning environment this year,” said Gabi Niño, executive director of elementary campus leadership. “A community-wide survey conducted earlier this spring also revealed an interest in having Belton ISD offer a virtual learning option in the future. With this knowledge, the district formed a team that developed robust plans to make this happen with dedicated staff and resources.”
During the recent Texas legislative session, however, House Bill 1468 did not pass which means a virtual learning option is not feasible for Belton ISD next year.
“While this is disappointing news, we will continue to develop our plans and be ready if it becomes an option the district can pursue in the future,” Niño said.
