Current title/school? This school year is my sixth year on the Southwest Elementary campus as a PE paraprofessional.
What inspires you to work in Belton ISD? I started here in my teens; now I’m a young adult. In that time I’ve been inspired by the students to never stop wondering. Our children are definitely not the only ones learning here. I’ve learned they are a wealth of knowledge. Our students love each other and our staff endlessly. I would say I’ve learned from them patience, acceptance and endless love.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself. I would say a fun fact about myself is I can cook a meal that would impress Chef Gordon Ramsay. Cooking for friends and family is one of my favorite past-times.
What was a pivotal moment in your career? One of the most pivotal moments in my career was when my parents passed away. I was absolutely devastated and questioned how on earth could I survive without my mom and dad. The silver lining to such a tragic moment in my life was the staff, aka family, created here at Southwest. There was not a day, in weeks, where I was not visited with cards, dinners and conversations. The love I received extended to being invited to Thanksgivings, Christmases and birthdays. Not only were the staff there for me, the Southwest community as a whole cared. Parents even sent cards signed by their families. The love I felt from the community truly can not be put into words. I can just describe the feeling of belonging. Southwest is like home to me.
