Meet Steven Kidd

Current title/school? I am currently a second grade math/science teacher at High Point Elementary.

What inspires you to work in Belton ISD? I am inspired by the small town feel in a large, growing school district that Belton ISD provides. Belton ISD gave my family and I a fresh start when we moved to the area ten years ago. I love watching my own children and students be given the opportunity to learn, grow, and discover where they fit in the world. I am inspired to be a teacher that may make a difference in a child’s life.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself. I love all things to do with the horror genre. I have been a Stephen King fan since middle school and have read nearly everything he has published. I am currently reading his latest book, Billy Summers. I also had some of my poetry published during my high school and college years.

What was a pivotal moment in your career? A pivotal moment in my teaching career was the year my family and I moved to central Texas. I gave up an amazing job as a campus technology coordinator and moved back into the classroom as a third grade teacher for another school district. It was the hardest year of my teaching career. The next year I was hired to work for Belton ISD in High Point Elementary's inaugural year.

Academics? I attended the University of Texas – Pan American, Texas A&M University, and Texas State University. I received a Bachelor of Science in Health and Fitness Management from Texas State University and interned in cardiac rehabilitation at Seton Hospital in Austin, Texas.
