Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation Raises Over $110K for Belton ISD Students, Staff
The Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation (BEEF) raised more than $110,000 at its Boots & BBQ event held Sept. 16 at Schoepf’s BBQ. The proceeds will go toward supporting Belton ISD students and staff.
“This was one of our major fundraisers for the year, and the community really showed up,” said Danny Vela, BEEF’s vice president of marketing and events. “It was great to see everyone come together and invest in Belton ISD’s students and staff in this way. And — it was just plain fun.”
The event featured dinner, silent and live auctions, and music by Texas country singer Jared Johnson, who also happens to be an alum of Belton High School.
The night also included performances by the Belton High School Madrigal and the Lake Belton High School Bella Voce choirs.
“We always try to include student participation in our events because they are the reason we’re raising money,” Vela said. “Seeing them in action is a great reminder of our ‘why.’”
Last spring, BEEF awarded more than $273,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors from Belton High School and Belton New Tech High School @ Waskow.
BEEF also provides grants to teachers to support innovative and creative instructional approaches and to paraprofessionals to financially support pursuit of teacher certification.
President Allyn Testroet said 100 percent of the organization’s funding comes from private sources such as individuals, corporations and foundations.
“Our donors appreciate the impact they are able to make by financially investing in Belton students and staff,” Testroet said. “We are grateful for their partnership and continued generosity. It truly makes a difference in the lives of so many in our community.”
