Meet Sally Ybarra

Current title/school? Lead custodian at Pirtle Elementary

What inspires you to work in Belton ISD? People ask me how I can do this type of work cleaning up after children. Well, I have four kids and eight grandkids. I don’t have a weak stomach. I also love cleaning and I love smiling a lot. The kids – I smile at them and they smile at me. It’s a good fit.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself. I’m young at heart and will try anything! My oldest grandbabies are 12, and I’m up for whatever they ask me to do. Recently I ended up on the ropes course at Shakers Backyard in Temple. For my 50th birthday a couple years ago, my daughter took me to Disney World and I got on all the rides. You only live once!

What was a pivotal moment in your career? The responsibility of cleaning a school during COVID has been a big moment. I try really hard to keep everyone healthy.

Academics? I was born and raised in the Temple/Belton area and attended Belton ISD schools.
