Meet Briana Brenek
Current title/school? I currently work at Miller Heights Elementary as a reading interventionist.
What inspires you to work in Belton ISD? I grew up in this community and attended Belton schools K-12. I have always had such fond memories of my experiences and wanted to give back to the community.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself. I've lived in a few different places, such as in a beach town, in the north with terrible winters and on a farm with lots of property and animals.
What was a pivotal moment in your career? I feel that each year I have the opportunity to make connections with the students I teach. This, for me, makes this work worth it each and every day. One very memorable school year, I taught a group of students who challenged me to bring my A-game each day. I used my creativity, flexibility and grace each and ever day. I would dive into bed each night exhausted. But by the end of the school year, we were a family. I was able to bond with the students in such unique ways. This was the most challenging yet pivotal year of my career. Even after having taught them many years ago, I still have deep connections to some of these students (even if they've forgotten about me).
Academics? Associate's degree from Temple College and a bachelor's degree from Ball State University.
