Meet Vanessa Hargrove
Current title/school? I am currently one of the dyslexia interventionists at Tarver Elementary.
What inspires you to work in Belton ISD? I have taught in Belton ISD for 17 years and both of my daughters attended school in BISD. I love watching the kids I teach grow up and come back to visit. I have also had the privilege to teach with and learn from some great educators in my years with Belton ISD.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself. I am deathly afraid of snakes and spiders. However, one of my kindergarten classes once convinced me to hold a python that a parent had brought up for show-and-tell in my classroom.
What was a pivotal moment in your career? I began my teaching career with six years in pre-K and kindergarten. After that, I moved to join the second grade team on my campus. Making that move gave me the opportunity to see the "fruits of my labor" in my years in early childhood. It was rewarding to be able to build upon that foundation that is vital to student growth and development. And now, being a dyslexia interventionist gives me the opportunity to strengthen those skills in students in all grade levels.
Academics? Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
