Meet Dora Martinez
Current title/school? Executive assistant to the deputy superintendent
What inspires you to work in Belton ISD? The Hispanic community and my family inspired me to work and continue working for Belton ISD. I spent many of my elementary years in an ESL classroom while dreaming of one day being in a "regular" class. When I started working for Belton ISD, I was hired in the bilingual department and was able to see how much I could help families — because I was once that student. I heard firsthand about family struggles as children tried to learn English, and I was able to share my story and assure parents their children were in the best school district.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself. I know it's a little strange, but I do not like spicy food. My family in Mexico laughs at me because I have to have a special, non-spicy dish made each time I visit.
What was a pivotal moment in your career? Each time I have advanced into a new role in Belton ISD, I'm grateful for the way the district allows me to keep growing and learning.
