Four Belton ISD Students Chosen for All-State Choir

Four Belton ISD students will bring their singing voices to San Antonio next month after earning All-State Choir recognition from the Texas Music Educators Association last weekend.

Lake Belton High School junior Erin Hankins and Belton High School junior Jezabel Vazquez Miranda placed in the All-State Treble Choir while LBHS sophomore Pate Palomino and BHS junior Gavin Young placed in the All-State Tenor/Bass Choir.

The musicians will perform at the TMEA Clinic/Convention in San Antonio on Feb. 11 with other top singers in the state.

The recognition — the highest honor a choir student in Texas can receive —  is the culmination of an audition process that began last fall with over 14,000 singers.

“These students have spent months preparing,” Terrance Livingston, LBHS’ head choir director, said. “We are so proud of their dedication and perseverance. I can not wait to hear them in their ensembles at the TMEA Convention.”

Tonya Lovorn, BHS’ head choir director, echoed the sentiment.

“We’re so proud of the hard work and dedication that got them here,” she said. “It is a monumental event that they will never forget.”

The students will perform on Feb. 11 at the  CC Stars at Night Ballroom in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio. The All-State Treble Choir will perform at 2 p.m. and the All-State Tenor-Bass Choir at 3:30 p.m.
