Dancers Receive All-State Honors

Seniors Kaylee Rivera from Lake Belton High School and Regan Martin from Belton High School were recently named All-State dancers by the Texas Dance Educators’ Association.

The honor — the highest any Texas student dancer can receive — was announced at the TDEA Convention, held Jan. 4-7 in Houston, where the dancers were able to take classes from master teachers, choreographers and leadership experts. They also performed at the convention with the 245-member All-State dance team.

Both girls serve as captains of their respective dance teams, the Silver Spurs and Magic Belles.

“Kaylee has been an integral part of building Silver Spurs from our beginning in 2020,” Spurs director Erin Choats said. “She has served in some type of leadership capacity each year and exemplifies our team motto, #SpurKindness.”

Martin, a four-year Magic Belle, is in her first year as an officer.

“Regan has always been one of the team’s lead motivators and examples,” Magic Belles director Rachel Hill said. “But as captain, she has really worked to create relationships with all of the line members, lead with positivity and grace and made sure that her teaching skills are where they need to be to be the most successful leader possible for her team.”

Tryouts for the 2023-2024 Magic Belles and Silver Spurs teams are set for this spring. For more information about tryout dates, prep clinics and mandatory parent meetings, visit beltonmagicbelles.com or lakebeltonsilverspurs.com.
