Belton ISD Received Certificate of Achievement for Financial Excellence

Belton Independent School District was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. This is the third consecutive year the district has received this prestigious recognition for fiscal transparency and financial excellence.

Belton ISD submitted a comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending August 31, 2022, which was judged by an impartial panel representing the 21,000-member association. To meet the high standards of the program, Belton ISD had to demonstrate a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story.

“This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our Business Services Team. Chief Financial Officer Melissa Lafferty and her team demonstrate our commitment to responsible stewardship of resources and ensuring that every dollar is invested in the best possible way to benefit each and every student,” Superintendent Dr. Matt Smith said. “This award is a testament to our unwavering commitment to providing a quality education while managing our finances with transparency and accountability. We will continue to uphold these high standards as we work towards an even brighter future for our students and the Big Red Community."

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
